I’ve been very happy with my previous DiscountTireDirect dealings through eBay so knowing I’ll need replacement all season tires for the Miata I started watching their eBay store for discounts. And it happened! $100 OFF the purchase of 4 tires, plus manufacturer rebates. I got all excited because BFGoodrich was offering $70 rebate off the purchase of g-force Comp 2 tires, but alas DiscountTireDirect was one of the few stores that chose not to participate in this promo. Go figure! I did buy another set of tires for my dad’s 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan and this time both the $100 instant coupon and $60 Cooper Tire rebate worked.
But I’m still happy with my purchase. People on Miata.net highly recommended the BFG Sport Comp 2 and Comp 2 A/S tires more so than the Continental Tire ExtremeContact DWS which are prone to sidewall bubbling or even blowouts when driving around the pot holes of the Northeast, so I’m hoping I have better luck with my BFG’s. They look very aggressive. Feel really nice and grippy, though I seem to have a slight vibration at speeds over 60mph… hopefully it’s not the fault of the tire shop. I had they re-balance the tire several times because initially they glued like a million weights around the inside of the tire, and maybe by reducing the number of weights it’s still not perfect. If the problem persists I’ll have to go to a better Tire shop and get them remounted and rebalanced again.
Total cost: $324 + $62 for install = $386
