What should I bring to the event if selected and what’s provided?

Bring your own White uniform, two piece shirt/pant or overalls are acceptable. While t-shirts and other “swag” may be offered, arrive prepared and don’t assume you’ll be given anything at the start of the event, as things are typically distributed at the end. Bring comfortable shoes for the long time on your feet. Most stations are on concrete or grass, and in case of rain can get very muddy. Bring your rain gear, and warm clothing as the island is surrounded by water and can be cold.

Where is event registration?

Registration and Credentials collection is at Sinbad’s Restaurant at 100 Saint Clair Street. Marshal dinner is provided during the collection hours.

Where is the morning meeting?

Event parking is on the Detroit side off of Jefferson Avenue Northwest of E. Grand Blvd leading onto Belle Isle at Gabriel Richard Park. Shuttle buses are provided for marshals to get to Belle Isle for the morning meeting in a Gazebo close to Turn 3.

Where can I stay?

Stay in downtown Detroit or the suburbs. Because of the current financial situation in the city of Detroit many areas are dangerous and are not recommended to visit. Reach out to the flag chief for best recommendations. It is not recommended to camp in the parking area. Couchsurfing and Airbnb are a legitimate option.

What perks are offered for volunteering this event?

Patches and event t-shirt are given out during credentials collection. A guest pass and parking passes are also available. MTM also gives out t-shirts, IndyCar hats and “swag” collected from teams and distributed at the morning meetings.
