About Julio Castrejón

Hi everyone,

I’m Julio Castrejón, from Madrid (Spain), born in 1981, and took my first steps as a marshal in 2000, when I joined the R.A.C.E. (Real Automóvil Club de España) in Jarama circuit.

I’m not a driver or a rider, but I have a great win in my own palmares… I won the battle against cancer in 2003, when I was only 22. Obviously, it was the most difficult experience of my life and now I’m very well (fortunately), but when I was cured of this illness, I learned a very important lesson: Life is like an Endurance Race, with problems, different conditions, changes, sometimes better, sometimes worse, make decisions, avoid obstacles, keep pushing, beat the rivals… in conclusion: NEVER GIVE UP!!  Sorry!! I’m always thinking in “race mode”, this is my way of life, do you know?? :P

Jesús Pareja (ex-driver, 2nd overall in Le Mans ’86) gave me the opportunity for working at the sport promotions company GT SPORT Organización (www.gtsport.es) for 3 years (2006, ’07 and ’08) which allowed me to meet other circuits and other marshals, mechanics, engineers, drivers… Today, I’m very proud to say that some of those people are great friends of mine.

Then, I worked at PEUGEOT SPORT ESPAÑA, the promotor of Copa Peugeot 207 in ’09 and ’10. In other words, GT SPORT and PEUGEOT were great experiences for me because I learnt to see the races from a different point of view.

After all, I could say I’m a lucky lucky boy. As a marshal, I took part in many different races like Formula-1, MotoGP, SBK, WTCC, DTM, WEC, FIA GT1, WS 3.5, European Truck Racing… in different circuits like Jarama, Catalonia, Cheste, Valencia Street Circuit, Motorland, Jerez, Bilbao Urban Circuit, Estoril (Portugal) Algarve (Portugal), Pau (France) and Le Mans (France), but I don’t want to stop here, is not enough for me. I’m always learning from other fellows, I’m always looking for the next race… I have 13 years of experience, but I feel I’m still in the warm up lap, so… Green Flag!!

A big THANK YOU to Russ Golyak for giving me the opportunity to express my feelings and racing experiences through this website. I’ll try to add posts in different languages like Spanish, English, French and Portuguese. I hope you enjoy it.

Welcome to my little area  :P
