Gulf 12 hours is an amazing endurance race around the world famous Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi which I got to experience for myself in December of 2013. It was the last race on my calendar and concluded a three week visit to the Middle East which also included side trips to Dubai and the Bahrain International Circuit.
ATCUAE organized at least some of the marshals for this Gulf 12 hour endurance race which was more like a 6 hour + 6 hour race. However, the series brought a bus load of British marshals to work the event, and on practice day I was one of the few people that was not part of BARC volunteering. It’s my understanding that BARC marshals were paid for their flight, accommodation, transportation and food at the track, which is very nice. I ended up paying my own way and had just about as much fun. Contact the ATCUAE if you wish to marshal this or other events at the Yas Marina Circuit, the most advanced track I’ve ever been to from a marshal’s perspective.
