Postcard from SBK Jerez

Lots of fun, good races and great atmosphere… is just what I expected from this weekend.

Eugene Laverty (Aprilia) won both races, but it wasn’t enough for him and finished second in the championship. The first race was a beautiful battle between Laverty and Melandri (BMW) until the last corner, but the second race was more confortable for the irish rider. Tom Sykes (Kawasaki) is the new world SBK champion, despite the accident at our corner during free practice (Picture below). The british crossed the finish line third and second in both races.

Good weekend for the spaniard rider Toni El√≠as. He was 5th in the first race and 4th in the second race. This was only his third meeting in SBK, but I think he’s adapting very quickly.

In Supersport, Sam Lowes won the race and showed why is the champion. Kenan Sofuoglu tried to keep the lead during all the race, but Lowes managed to pass him with 2 laps to go, and pulled away for the win.

Thanks a lot to all the fellows. It was a nice weekend. Now it’s time to think about the next race ūüėÄ
